Do you entertain guests? If so, you no doubt know that while their company may be pleasant, the wear and tear they can cause to you home is a burden and cleaning up after them is a hassle. I know. I have had the terrible displeasure of cleaning up after a pleasant day of entertaining only to find a deep gash in the linoleum of my kitchen floor. I was so upset it ruined the entire day for me. Instead of pleasant memories of an afternoon spent with friends, all I felt was anger and frustration over the damage to my kitchen floor.
Our guests had been walking in and out all of our kitchen and back yard all day and one of them must have picked up a rock in his or her shoe. When they walked back inside the pressure of their weight on the hard edge of the pebble was more than my soft linoleum floor could bear and the linoleum ripped. By the time I found the damage there was nothing much I could except to try to find a way to cover it up. Otherwise I would have had to watch as the rip grew until I was faced with the expensive and unpleasant enterprise of having to replace the surface of my kitchen floor. What else could I have done? My opportunity to prevent the damage had already passed.
With only a little forethought and for a comparatively small cost, I could have prevented this accident. Do you want to know how? I could have protected my floor by simply laying down a few cheap rugs. That’s right, a few cheap rugs laid out where your guests are most likely to walk, like your kitchen, bathrooms, porch and patio can easily save you from finding the kind of damage to your floors that I found had happen to mine.
Rugs can serve to cushion your floors against your footsteps and minimize the impact of any debris, like small rocks, that may become stuck in the tread of your shoes, on the surfaces of your floors, decking and patio. Nothing does more to protect your floors with as little cost and effort as laying down a few cheap rugs where people are the most likely to walk. So next time you think about entertaining at your house, think first of getting a few cheap rugs to protect your floors.
Polypropylene indoor outdoor rugs are some of the best rugs for protecting your floors both indoors and out. Or for a more traditional and decorative look, you could choose gebbeh rugs the original Persian rug.
