Getting the Right Shade For Vinyl Bathroom Flooring
Posted By Houston Decorator on July 6, 2010
There are many great attributes that make vinyl flooring an ideal choice for rooms that are prone to getting wet. It is hard-wearing, doesn’t cost too much and, above all else, is waterproof.
No aspect of vinyl makes it more appropriate for a bathroom than this last aspect, since this is the wettest room in the house and there will always be plenty of splashes, drips and steam around. Some kinds of vinyl bathroom flooring also have an anti-slip surface, ensuring that even when wet, you are less at risk of suffering a mishap.
However, while all this is important you may be likely to want more than just that from your vinyl flooring. The decor is an issue in a bathroom as it is in other rooms in the home and if you are looking to fit bathroom vinyl flooring, you may be particularly keen that it matches well with the existing features of the bathroom, or any new ones you are planning to install.
The good news is that there is a great deal of variety in the choice of vinyl floors you can enjoy. For example, if your bathroom has lots of wood in it, a wood-effect vinyl floor is easy to find.
You may wish to go for tiled vinyl in black or white to go with a similar two-tone look in the room as a whole. Or you could opt for white squares with green or blue triangles at the corner, which could match a room where these shades fit well with the dominant colours.
You may also wish to consider the amount of light the bathroom gets at different times of the year, particularly on a wintery morning when it may look a bit gloomy if the window does not point towards the east. In this case, a light shade may be a very good idea as it can help to make the room look warmer and more welcoming on a cold, grim day.
Ultimately, of course, the choice is yours and the fact that vinyl is now available in so many designs and styles means that you should find little difficulty in finding the vinyl that is right for you and your bathroom.
