If you have had cold winters, you are going to need the best electric blanket you can afford. If you don’t have cold winters but the nights are still chilly, you don’t have to bear with the cold. The best defense is to use technological means to fight off the bitter cold.
How can you tell if the electric blanket you’ve got your eye on is a good one? Here are some selection criteria you can use if you want to choose your electric blanket
1. Heating Speed
You might get a scare when you think the blanket is not heating up or is malfunctioning. Waiting for your blanket to heat up can be torture, especially if you start wondering whether or not you turned it on in the first place. If the blanket can heat up fully in a short time, you’ll feel warm faster. To test the speed of heating, you need to ask the salesman to demonstrate for you. If you’re on an online shop, you can check out the testimonials to find out if heating speed has been a problem for some users.
2. ‘Age” of the Blanket
An old blanket has seen better days and it can become a fire hazard. An old blanket could malfunction and set fire to your bed. The use of very old electric blankets has been said to cause more fires. If you’re buying second hand, check the blanket thoroughly. A brand new blanket is a better investment. Have your blanket checked every few months to ensure that it’s still working right.
3. How it Fits on Your Bed
Get the size right. Check the specs and make sure you measure your bed’s width. Some make do with a short electric blanket for foot warmth, but make sure this is what you really want. Some full size blankets are more expensive, but if they can cover two people in the same bed then you are making a good investment. Another thing to note, is that if you already bought electric mattress pad, perhaps you don’t really need to get an electric blanket.
