Rustic Style Decoration

One of the most popular styles for decorating a home is rustic décor. Whether your home is in a densely populated neighborhood of a big city or a wooded rural area, this is a warm and inviting style of décor. Nothing feels more comfortable or welcom ing than a home decorated in rich, warm shades. Furthermore, those who can’t get enough of natural wood are sure to find this decorating style to be a favorite.
In rustic décor, you find shades of forest green, cream, brown tones, and any other rich colors found in nature. Wood is used in walls, floors, ceiling fans, and furniture. Hardwood floors, while beautiful in any home, are absolutely exquisite in this style. Throw some braided accent rugs at the foot of the bed or in front of a sofa, which will add to the homey, comfortable look and atmosphere.
For the Walls
These days, some types of paneling are outdates, but the wood panels that are applied horizontally are trendy and create an amazing look. If you think you would prefer to paint the walls, just be sure to stick to rustic colors. By painting only a couple of walls, you can add even more interest to the room. Create some contrast by painting one wall a rich tan color and another forest green. Wall tapestries make a great addition to a rustic décor. Look for rich tapestries with scenes of nature, mountainous terrain, and forest landscapes.
Furnishings for the Rustic Home
If you’re looking for the perfect complement for a rustic décor, you can’t go wrong with leather and mission furniture. Just be sure your coffee and end tables match any exposed wood on the sofa, love seat, or recliner. Dark green, rust, and creams in a plaid or striped pattern are a great option if you choose to use a fabric for your furniture. Just remember that with this type of décor you want to stick to colors and textures that mimic nature.
For your kitchen, go with a long wooden pine or maple table. Just add a bowl filled to the brim with fruit and your wooden dining room table is complete! When you’re looking for seating, use mismatched wooden chairs or even benches. Remember, the older and more worn the pieces look in this style, the better. You might accessorize your rustic-styled kitchen with a home rug placed in front of the sink area, stone and ceramic pots filled with sunflowers or herbs, and prancing roosters.
Don’t Forget to Accessorize
When you go to choose accessories, try to find items with an antique or worn look. Not only do leather and wood make perfect accents, but they keep the natural theme flowing throughout the home. For instance, a distressed wooden trunk or antique-style mirror makes the perfect addition to a living room or bedroom. A great place to find a mirror is a flea market. Even if they contain a few dings, it just adds to the rustic appeal.
Nothing conveys feelings of warmth, security, and family quite like a rustic décor. You can create comfortable, inviting spaces in your home, no matter where you reside. At the end of the day, the purpose of a home is to give you comfort, security, and warm feelings. Nothing is quite as welcoming and beautiful as the rustic-style home. Country or city—it doesn’t matter. This is one style you will truly fall in love with.
