A wall sconce is a very effective mood setter which is why they are mostly found in homes and restaurants while places of work usually have ceiling lights. You will mostly have wall sconces already in your home because they are almost default in most houses. The problem is that after a few years if you want to change the lighting in your home the only option you have is to changing the fixtures. Although this is a good option, you will only have a different looking lamp and will not be able to change the throw of the light because they are tied to one position on the wall.
The plug in wall sconce is a very good option here because they are not governed by the wiring in the home. The plug in sconce is just that, it is a sconce that has a wire with a plug at the end that can be plugged into any socket the way you would a table lamp or any other electrical equipment. All you have to do is to fix the sconce to the wall where you want it and plug in the wire.
The fixing is nothing much, the sconces come with screws that need to be screwed into the wall and you don’t need a degree in electrical engineering to do this. The only problem that you may face is in concealing the wire. The easiest way would of course be to install it near the socket, but then you will once again be restricting yourself to putting in your light only where the socket is located. A better option that would require a little bit of work would be to use chord covers. They are actually very simple to use and once again only require that they be screwed into the walls at regular intervals.
None of this is very complicated and you can do it yourself if you have a couple of hours to spare on a weekend. It is also not too expensive and you can finish everything in under $50 with the biggest expense going towards the sconce. Of course you get more expensive ones and how much you spend on the fixture is up to you.
