Getting Rid of Fleas in the Home Is a Lot Easier Than You May Realise

Owning a pet whether you have a cat, dog, rabbit or even chickens has to be one of the most rewarding things to do they give so much comfort and pleasure and ask so little in return. But, one of the biggest drawbacks that I can think of in having animals has to be getting rid of fleas in the home and this does happen from time to time when your poor pets become victim to these hopping horrors.

Nobody likes the idea of having them and certainly not having to deal with them either but, it really is one of those things that goes with the territory when it comes to your furry friends (through no fault of their own I hasten to add). It has nothing to do with being unclean either. So, why do you find yourself getting rid of fleas in the home then if 1. It is not your pets fault 2. You have a clean house?

The answer is quite simply because these nasty little parasites need warm blood to feed on in order to survive and be capable of reproducing and laying eggs. That instantly puts you and your feline and canine friends straight into the frame as number one meal, which is gross to think about I know.

What happens after the adult female has had her fill is she can then start laying between 45 to 50 eggs per day, usually on your pet. From there they will either fall off or hatch wherever they land or stay on board and hatch there. If you notice an unusual amount of scratching or itching it may well be a good time to do the once over and prepare yourself for the sight of unwanted visitors on your dog or cat.

Ignoring them is the worst thing you can do because if you do the next step for you is to deal with the masses and fend them off. Just because they are so small, it can be a little deceiving as they are a big nuisance and you really do have to be quite aggressive in your approach to getting them gone for good.

Unfortunately, it is not good enough to just kill the odd adult you see as, by then the eggs have been laid and dispersed around your house and the damage already done. The eggs and larva will be developing unseen and the first you will realise is when they all mature and invade you by the thousands, not nice at all. So, by killing the adults and preventing any further development of the eggs and larva you can totally ensure you eradicate them properly and prevent any further reoccurrence.

Getting rid of fleas in the home does take a little patience but, with the right help and guidance you can do it very easily. By using a combination of flea traps, repellents and collars you can sort out your pets and your living space, no problem and soon be flea free.
