One of the best methods of keeping the water in your swimming pool is to install a pool cleaning filter. But you should also be smart in choosing the right type of pool filter for your swimming pool. To be able to choose properly, you must know your options.  There are basically two common types of pool filters.

  1. Cartridge Filters – this type of filter functions by using paper to filter out particles out of the water. These paper cartridges are placed inside the housing of the filter. These types of filters are pretty much popular for their ease of maintenance and cleaning. Cleaning is done by removing the filter and spraying it with water using a hose. If properly maintained and cared for, cartridge filters could last for up to 5 years. If you want your filters to reach that long, you must strictly observe proper maintenance and you should occasionally replace the cartridge filter plates. Prices are available in ranges from moderate to the high – end, expensive ones.
  2. Sand Filters – this is perhaps the most commonly used filter in residential pool types. This type of filter works by filtering out debris through the use of silica sand. However, sand filters are considered the least effective method of filtering the water in your swimming pool. The major downside of this type of filter is that it needs major maintenance more frequently, unlike cartridge filters. However, the sand in the filter could last up to 6 years before it needs replacing, but the maintenance is a pain in the back. It needs constant back washing because out going water forces the filtration sand to flush out.
Now that you know the basic types of pool cleaning filter, you now know what to get just in case you wanted your pools crystal clear and clean water in your swimming pool. These types of filters are not the only type out there but these would be enough to do the job.
