Certain Parts Of The UK Are Suffering More From Heating Oil Theft

The fact that the winter has not even arrived yet, has not stopped numbers of heating oil thefts from being reported already. One place that seems to be getting hit quite hard is Cambridgeshire where there has been a sudden increase the local police force warns that these increase in thefts seem to accompany rises in the price of crude oil. With many people filling up their tanks now in preparation for the winter ahead, there will probably be more of these crimes reported in the coming weeks. There is now just too much money involved for criminals to ignore this often easy crime. It is always going to be far easier for a criminal to get away with stealing heating oil from a tank than it would be for them to mug someone or break into a house.
However if you can think like a criminal yourself, you may be able to reduce the chances of having your heating oil stolen – you should never make it too easy for your heating oil to be stolen. Although one way to prevent criminals from getting to your tank is to put a lock on the tank, many believe that they will just find another way to get the oil such as cutting the line and this can leave quite a mess for you to clear up. You could also try and fit an alarm which sounds when oil levels drop quite rapidly and this would alert you to the fact that your oil was being stolen. You could have a security light fitted which will go on whenever someone goes near to the tank but the problem with this is that it will only work when it is dark out. The best advice is probably to not have your heating oil somewhere that is too advantageous to the criminal; somewhere that they can be easily able to steal your oil without anyone noticing.
Some people spend a lot of money heating their homes in the winter. Electricity and gas prices are very high and show no signs of coming down any time soon. Clever people are switching to heating oil as a fuel though. Cheapest heating oil are the people tasked with keeping home oil tanks full. Suppliers can be found all over the country, and, for example, will supply heating oil Blackheath.
